Jesus' prayer over His followers
They don't belong to this world, and neither do I. Your word is the truth.
So let this truth make them completely yours. I am sending them into the world, just as you sent me."
John 17:15-18
Our story of the faithfulness of God...
Wondering who we are? We are Jake and Rachael Christensen with the perfect amount of daughters :) We were married on January 5th, 1997. We have four daughters. Alyssa is 11 and in 6th grade, Rebekkah is 9 and in 3rd grade, Grace is 6 and in kindergarten, and Sierra is 5. Jake is a programming engineer and I have been a stay at home mom for the last 11 years.
We heard the call of God on our lives since the beginning of our relationship and a little while before it through various prophecies and such. Summarizing "the call"...Jake knows that God is going to use him in business...he is an entrepreneur at heart, but we have no idea exactly how this will take shape. He's also felt for some time that it would be international. We both feel that it will be short term trips of some sort to unreached areas.
I have known for since 1988 that I was going to be involved heavily in worship ministry and that it is going to take a different shape than what I am picturing. In the past couple of years, a new piece of the puzzle has been shown to me.I believe it will involve ministry to women and speaking-yikes! I intensely dislike talking in front of people; so God has been refining me and continues to do so.
Although it has been a long wait, God currently seems to be moving in our lives in a rather quick way. In October of 2008, Jake, myself, Alyssa and Rebekkah joined our church on a missions outreach to Ensenada, Mexico for 10 days. It was hugely life changing. All missions trips seem to be, but this one especially so. During the trip, Jake and I felt (quite strongly) that God was leading us to sell everything and move to Mexico. Within days after our return, God confirmed this calling in a variety of ways. We spoke with our pastor and other respected godly individuals. There was definitely a witness in the spirit!! There was no hesitation; it is in keeping with words spoken over us these past years.
In the fall of 2009, during our YWAM DTS, our call became a bit more specific, and we have more focus in our training. Our heart and our desire is to work to rescue trafficked women and children...eventually in Cambodia. We know we have a season of training ahead of us. We don't know how long or exactly what that training looks like, but we will keep you posted in our blog.
We know that God has a plan for the six of us, and what exactly the future holds-only God knows. But we are sure that God is in control and will be with all of us every step of the way. He is our Father and our provider. He is faithful and true, kind and loving, merciful and compassionate. He is our "all in all" in every sense of the phrase. God has called us to embark on this journey by faith...every step of the way.
